The tide was coming in, this brought the little block of ice gradually closer to the island. Dee sat on the little block trying his best to stay on top of it, being a hammer even touching water was a frightening prospect. So instead of paddling and risking his own hammers condition he let the waves carry him inland. Eyeing the island ahead he recalled its name, Hero’s Mountain a place once famed for an invasion repelled by one person now only a mining island. The young king could see two men with their backs to him sitting on an outreach of the docks. They were covered in dirt and dust, each holding a fishing pole. On their break from being down the mines they were spending some time fishing with their lunch boxes open, as they both went to munch down on their sandwiches one of them noticed the filling. “Aww it’s the same thing every day! I can’t eat this, wanna trade?” the one on the right said leaning to his left and proffered his food. The other leant away and laughed, “No way, I love my food.”. This led to the sandwich sailing through the air.
“Woah, don’t waste food some of us haven’t eaten in ages.” Dee called out between mouthfuls of the flying food. The two men surprised from the voice both scrambled to the side of the dock to see a man in varying shades of blue and red floating on a piece of ice accompanied by an odd mallet hammer. He was looking at both of the men with a smile on his face broken up with his chewing of the sandwich, they both had a look of disbelief and confusion from the odd appearance and nonchalant attitude. As soon as he was in arms reach of the dock he hauled his weapon onto it and then pulled himself up. He didn’t bother doing anything with the ice, it wasn’t much use as a vessel and as far as he was concerned there was plenty more of it at home. He just brushed himself off and then froze on the spot. In a flash he had thrown his coat to the wooden floor of the dock swiftly lying on it himself with his hand on his brow. “Sooooo hot.” He groaned, struck by one his false temperature turns. The two miners shared a confused look between them, then back to look on Dee who was rolling on the floor now bundled up in his coats, teeth chattering. “Sooooo coold”. Only one of the miners was paying attention at this point. They had begun to root through the others lunchbox. So by the time Dee had stood up, back to relative normal with all of his clothes on, the miner had his face full of food. As the other man noticed the bell went for them to get back to work, the food thief smiled with a stuffed face and ran back to work. The other miner ran after yelling and laughing at the same time, Dee completely forgotten, work to them was more important than this stranger who seemed harmless. Not thinking anything of it Dee brought his mallet onto his shoulder and waddled towards where the other two had run off to. He’d never been to a mine before.
